Position can be defined as the location of an object at a given moment in time. The object can either be a person, a ball, or a particle.
Displacement is simply the difference in an object's position from one time to another. Displacement is a vector quantity because it has direction.
Distance is defined as the total amount an object has travelled in a certain period of time. Distance is a scalar quantity because it has magnitude (amount).
If an object travels in a straight line and always moves in a same direction, distance and displacement are the same.
